Accessibility statement
Last updated:
I want this website to be usable by everyone, including people who browse with a screen reader, with the keyboard only, with zoom or with low vision.
Conformance status
The website is designed to meet WCAG 2.2, level AA (W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and is currently partially conformant: all the automated and keyboard checks described below found no issues, but a full test with a screen reader has not been carried out yet. This statement will be updated after that test.
Last assessment: 4 November 2026.
What the website offers
- Display panel (⚙ icon at the top): light or dark theme, high contrast, larger or smaller text (from 87% to 150%). Your choices are stored only in your browser.
- The website follows your system preferences: dark theme, increased contrast and reduced motion.
- Checked colour contrast: at least 4.5:1 for text and 3:1 for graphical elements, in the dark theme too.
- Full keyboard navigation, with an always-visible focus indicator and a "Skip to content" link at the start of every page.
- Headings and page regions that screen readers can recognise, alternative text for images, and contact form messages announced automatically.
- Atkinson Hyperlegible typeface, designed by the Braille Institute to be readable for people with low vision.
- The website works without JavaScript; JavaScript only adds convenience.
- Pages available in Italian and English.
Keyboard navigation
The website does not define its own keyboard shortcuts, which could clash with those of the browser or the screen reader: the standard keys are all you need.
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| Tab / Shift + Tab | moves to the next / previous link or button; the first one is "Skip to content" |
| Enter | opens a link or activates a button |
| Space | activates a button or selects an option |
| Arrow keys | choose the theme in the display panel |
| Esc | closes the display panel, the contact form and the menu on smartphones |
From the ⚙ panel you can also enlarge the text (A+) or switch on high contrast; browser zoom (Ctrl + / Ctrl −) works on every page up to 400%.
Known limitations
- Project covers are screenshots of websites built for third parties: they are described by the title and text of each card, but their inner content is not available as text.
- The project websites linked from here are run by others and may offer a different level of accessibility.
- The PDF CV is generated with headings and bookmarks, but it has not been checked with a screen reader yet.
How it was checked
Before every release the website is checked automatically on all pages, in Italian and English, in the four themes (light, dark, high-contrast light and dark), on desktop and on smartphones:
- axe-core with the WCAG 2.2 level A and AA rules (contrast, accessible names, structure, forms…);
- reflow: no horizontal scrolling at 320 px width (equivalent to 400% zoom) and with text enlarged to 150%;
- keyboard: the first Tab reaches "Skip to content", which leads to the text; focus is always visible; the ⚙ panel opens and closes from the keyboard and focus returns to its button;
- structure: a single main heading per page and no skipped heading levels;
- without JavaScript: the menu and the contact form remain available.
Still to do: a manual test with the Orca (Linux) and NVDA (Windows) screen readers.
